ERNA SAMP Erna Samp passed away suddenly at the Maples Personal Care Home on July 2, 2007, at the age of 89. Erna was born in Riesenburg Germany on May 22, 1918, to Karl and Wilhemeine Marschewski. On May 27, 1939, she married Otto Samp, starting married life in Dortmund Germany. The family immigrated to Canada, arriving on July 1, 1955, making their home in Winnipeg. In addition to raising her family, Erna worked in the garment industry for many years. She was predeceased by her first-born son Gerhard and husband Otto. She is survived by daughter Christa Manthey and son-in-law Peter Manthey of Oakville, Ontario; son Manfred Samp and daughter-in-law Jean Lenderbeck of Winnipeg; grandson Adrian Manthey of Toronto, and sisters Lene Warrings, Hilde Peschke and Kate Bartels of Germany. The family wishes to thank the staff at Maples Personal Care Home for the kind and attentive care they provided our Mother over the last two years of her life. Cremation has taken place.
